Application for Home stay opportunity for eight Iraqi Youths.

Hospitality Opportunity!

We need homes for 8 Iraqi youth who will be visiting Denver from July 11th to July 25th. (Application deadline: June 15)

We are looking for host families to provide a welcoming environment for high school students involved in The Iraqi Young Leaders Exchange Program (IYLEP.)

This program is sponsored and funded by the U.S. Embassy, Baghdad and U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Youth Programs Division. IYLEP is administered by World Learning in partnership with local community organizations like WorldDenver. An investment in global understanding and peace, these programs have created a cadre of future leaders of Iraq: young people who will inspire and impact others.

IYLEP is a four-week youth leadership exchange based in the U.S. for Iraqi and American teenagers ages 15-17 and several Iraqi adults. The program aims to develop young adults in Iraq and the United States who have a strong sense of civic responsibility, a commitment to community development, an awareness of current and global issues, strong interpersonal leadership skills, willingness to foster relationships among youth from different ethnic, religious, and national groups in Iraq, and to promote mutual understanding, respect and collaboration between the United States and Iraq. Both American and Iraqi participants are required to implement follow-up activities upon their return home that help the participants stay in touch with each other, reflect on their experiences, and integrate their skills, knowledge, and attitudes into their day-to-day lives. An important goal of the program is that the student leaders, now empowered, will train other student leaders through student led community oriented service projects.

Attached is information on the homestay program and here is the application link you need to complete by June 15th should you be interested:

Please note: as a host, you will be asked to provide transportation each morning to the WorldDenver campus at Martin Luther King Blvd. and Colorado Blvd. and a ride back to your home at the end of the day. Due to the fact the students will not have a U.S. cell phone, they can not be transported by Uber or Lyft for security reasons. Car pool opportunities are an option should this be a reason you cannot host, we are happy to help organize rides. Two meals a day are provided by you, the host, as a part of the agreement and are a vital part of your contribution to the program that lead to open conversations at the ground level.

Please email Gergana Kostadinova at with any questions.”
